From Runiki

The Columbus Marathon has been run since 1979.

Course Description

The course is quite flat and tours many of the historic and interesting neighborhoods near downtown Columbus and Ohio State University. Beginning at Broad and High on the north side of the statehouse, the course follows broad to Bexley, back through German village, through the city center, up High St., across 315 to Upper Arlington, back on Lane Ave. to Ohio State, and finally to a finish near the start on Nationwide Blvd. The course is mostly flat with the only uphills noticeable on the 3-4 mile stretch along High St. between miles 13-17, which also has the tendency to be the worst section with regard to the wind.

Awards

The Columbus Marathon is a money race. In 2005 the winners of the men's and women's races brought home $5000 and the money went 5-deep to $500 for 5th place. The top Ohioan received $250 plus a round-trip airfare voucher on Delta.
