The Footlocker Cross Country Championships are an annual event that pits the best high school runners against one another.
Regional Meets
Runners qualify in one of four regional meets.
- The Northeast Regional is traditionally held at the famed Van Courtland Park in Bronx, NY. This regional includes Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington D.C.
- The South Regional (http://www.footlockercc.com/2005/index.php?regional=south) is held at McAlpine Greenway Park in Charlotte, NC. This regional includes the states Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.
- The Midwest Regional (http://www.footlockercc.com/2005/index.php?regional=midwest) is held at the University of Wisconsin - Parkside in Kenosha, WI. The Midwest regional counts Bob Kennedy, Suzy Favor-Hamilton, Melody Fairchild, Tim Hacker, Todd Williams and Adam Goucher among its established alumni and has recently featured up-and-comers Jorge Torres, Dathan Ritzenhein and Chris Solinsky. This regional includes Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin.
- The West Regional (http://footlockerwest.com/) is held at Mt. SAC in Walnut, CA. This regional includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
All regionals but the West Regional will be held on the 26th of November (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) in 2005.
Final Championship Race
The final championship race will be held on December 10, 2005 at Balboa Park in San Diego, CA.
