From novice to professional, all runners hunger for the training advice that will help them do their best. While the particular training advice given can vary on a number of factors including experience, fitness level, and goals, it is definitely possible to pick out commonalities that apply to everyone. The themes tend to outline what you might expect: healthy diet, recovery time and form, but over the years many training programs with their own peculiarities have developed and can work for a given individual depending on their situation.

Find Support

One of the best sources of indivualized training information can come informally from other runners. To find like-minded folks, consider joining one of the many running groups out there or just show up to one of the informal runs local running stores put on. Many of these groups have a head person that is kind enough to act as a coach for the group. This is usually a knowledgable runner who is adept at designing workouts and training schedules and takes pleasure in what is often a very time-consuming job. Many professional private coaches also exist that will give you varying levels of advice for a fee.

Get Connected

To get connected with like-minded individuals, check out the running groups on this site or otherwise get involved with your local running community. One of the best ways to do that is to enter some local races and talk to those around you. Runners tend to be a friendly bunch.
