John Carlos is an American Olympic sprinter that won the bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics. He, along with Tommie Smith, showed their support for the civil rights movement by raising a black-gloved fist on the medal stand. Both he and Smith were later kicked out of the Olympic Village and Carlos lost his car washing job upon returning home.
