John Landy (born April 12, 1930) and hails from Australia. He was the second man to break 4 minutes for the mile, doing so only weeks after Roger Bannister did it for the first time and surpassing his record at the time by almost a full second.

Landy later went on to become the 26th governor of Victoria, Australia.
